Welcome to the Anderson Valley Elementary School! Anderson Valley Elementary School has a beautiful campus with 40 staff members serving 300 students in grades K-6. AVES is proud of offering a strong program that includes the Houghton Mifflin Reading Program, Saxon Math and Foss science, physical education, social studies, music, art, and technology. We encourage the development of a second language in all of our students through classes and enrichment activities. Elementary students are supported in developing resilience through class meetings with character education, and violence, alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention programs, along with opportunities to play important roles in class and the school (Eco-Patrol, 6th grade Leadership, office helpers, litter league). The after school program serves over 100 students daily with the homework club, and many enrichment and recreational opportunities: art, chorus, band, dance, baile folklorico, cooking, science club, soccer, basketball, volleyball. The Early Risers Club provides a supervised environment for students to have breakfast, do homework, art activities or play games from 6:45 until 8:15. Our parents are involved through Site Council, the English Language Advisory Council, the PTV (Parent, Teacher, Volunteer), as well as many hours in and out of the classroom as volunteers. We have regular family events which include: Back to School Night, PJ night, Las Posadas, Holiday Crafts Fair, Science Fair, Day of the Child/ Boontling Classic, 5K run, Young Authors Fair, Open House, and monthly Family Literacy evenings. |
