Transportation Rules - Coming soon!
AVUSD’s Transportation Department’s number one goal every day is to transport all student bus riders safely to and from school. In order to accomplish this goal, the cooperation of other drivers on the road and student bus riders is necessary. Good student behavior while entering, riding and leaving the bus contribute to safe transportation. Such conduct makes it possible for the driver to give full attention to the roadway and other drivers.
The AVUSD Board of Education voted in November to equip all route buses and athletic vans with a camera system. We are hoping this will reduce the amount of disruptive behaviors on the school bus, although, unfortunately, we understand it will not eliminate all issues. Our drivers will be visiting with students when the cameras are installed (second week in February), but I also wanted to give you an opportunity to visit with your student about this change, as well.
The camera system will only be reviewed by administrators or the AVUSD Transportation Supervisor when there is an incident on the bus. In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts, video will not be allowed to be viewed by parents or other parties.
We look forward to continuing to transport all student riders safely to and from school.
