Board Of Trustees Vacancy

Board of Trustees Vacancy

Anderson Valley Unified has One (1) seat on the Board of Trustees whose terms will expire in December of 2019.

The role of the school board is to ensure that school districts are responsive to the values, beliefs and priorities of their communities. Boards fulfill this role by performing five major responsibilities:

  1.     Setting direction
  2.     Establishing an effective and efficient structure
  3.     Providing support
  4.     Ensuring accountability
  5.     Providing community leadership as advocates for children, the school district and public schools.

These five responsibilities represent the core functions that are fundamental to a school system’s accountability that they can only be performed by an elected governing body.

Authority is granted to the board as a whole, not each member individually. Therefore, board members fulfill these responsibilities by working together as a governance team with the superintendent to make decision that will best serve all students in the community.

Any person is eligible without further qualifications, if he/she is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and not legally disqualified from holding civil office. (Education Code  35107)

A Board member cannot do business with the district served, nor should the Board member have an interest in any contract with the school district in general.

Please submit letter of interest or contact Veronica Barragan at the District Office 895-3774 for more information.
