Yard Duty Person/Clerk - Classified

Under the supervision of the principal, to supervise children in the cafeteria, on the playground, and in other areas of the school; to perform other related duties as required.

Salary
$12.19 - $13.28 an hour per Range C on the Classified Salary Schedule

Benefits
Employee will be a member of the local Classified State Employees' Association.

Work Hours/Year
3 hours per day, 5 days per week, 11 months per year pending successful fingerprint clearance and submission of a recent tuberculosis test as required by the California Education Code.

Job Description

Definition

Under the supervision of the principal, to supervise children in the cafeteria, on the playground, and in other areas of the school; to perform other related duties as required.

 Examples of Duties

Maintain order in the lunchroom and on the playground, see that school safety rules are followed and report special behavioral problems to the principal; consult with the principal on maintaining acceptable behavioral standards; organize, direct, and assist children in games; encourage and promote courtesy among children in the cafeteria and on the playground; maintain order as children pass from class to class; assume rainy day responsibilities as assigned by the principal; make suggestions for the improvement of the safety and welfare of children during the recess period; administer minor first aid and make reports as appropriate; operate various office machines such as copier, ditto machine, and laminator

 Minimum Qualifications

          Ability to

  • Deal with students and staff members in a tactful and pleasant manner
  • Direct children in playground activities and promote participation, good sportsmanship, and fair play
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions

 Desired Qualifications

          Education

  • Be able to read and write at a level necessary for accurate and efficient job performance

          Experience

  • Working with and in organizing groups of children
