Under supervision of the principal and the direction of the custodian, Level II, to keep assigned rooms, building, and office space clean and orderly; to perform related duties as required. 

Salary
$14.13 - $15.06 an hour per Range D on the Classified Salary Schedule

Benefits
Employee will be a member of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) to which both the employee and AVUSD contribute. Employee will receive Health, Dental and Vision insurance for employee and their family. Employee will also receive two weeks paid vacation a year.


Work Hours/Year
8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months per year pending successful fingerprint clearance and submission of a recent tuberculosis test as required by the California Education Code.

Custodian I

Definition

Under supervision of the principal and the direction of the custodian, Level II, to keep assigned rooms, building, and office space clean and orderly; to perform related duties as required. 

Examples of Duties

Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and oil floors; vacuum rugs and carpets; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; empty and clean wash receptacles; clean restrooms; wash blackboards, window, and walls; polish metal work; take care of equipment and materials; assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment and setting up buildings and rooms for dances, parties, meetings, and special events; report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards; make minor repairs, replacing lights, adjusting shades or blinds, and adjusting desks and other furniture; clean Venetian blinds; scrape and refinish floors; pick up litter on grounds; unlock and lock doors to buildings; raise and lower flag; order supplies; may drive truck or van in delivering or picking up supplies and equipment; may act as security guard on designated shifts.  

Minimum Qualifications

      Education

  • Be able to read and write at a level necessary for accurate and efficient job performance.

       

      Knowledge of

  • Cleaning supplies, materials, methods, and practices

 

      Ability to

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Work independently
  • Perform heavy physical labor
  • Work cooperatively

     Experience

  • A familiarity with custodial and cleaning methods and equipment

 License Required

  • Valid California Driver's License
